What we saw + heard...
Recently, at The Guyer Art Barn in Hyannis, MA~
An installation by Tessa D'Agostino. It'll be up thru November 6.
The artist (Tessa) will offer an Intuitive Art Making workshop there on 11.5.11 from 3PM - 6PM. ($45/email MakeInsideArt@gmail.com)
Robert Peters told stories and read from older and forthcoming books at Han Dun Gallery in Mashpee, MA. What evocative stories about people from the area. He read in The Wampanoag Authors series - on 11.5, Earl H. Mills will be reading from 2PM - 4PM.
AND, a new bookstore will open near us - The Book Shack will go in where Borders was in The Independence Mall (Kingston, MA). They were setting things up last weekend and hope to be open very soon. The owners plan to have a cafe with seating, book readings and other events. Let's support them and all the arts and artists in any way we can - whether it's by setting time aside to attend a reading, attending a show and leaving comments in their book or buying a ticket...

All kinds of art, craft and music scattered over the festival area, lots of people watching opportunities. We ran into Ron Wilson, wonderful photographer. One can see his work at his gallery, Wilson & Heywood, in Plymouth.

Out IN it!
Wanted to post some images + info about some of the events listed from last week...
Mashpee's Oktoberfest was a fun time - lots of people, good music, great sunny day. Check it out next year (2012)~
On Sunday, The Wampanoag Herring Pond River Singers and Drummers and other groups performed at a cultural festival at the Plymouth waterfront. You can hear The Herring Pond River group here.
Jack Scully brought Poetry: The Art of Words to Plymouth again, as he does monthly. Look for it again on Sunday, 11.14.11. Jack also publishes a good list: South of Boston Poetry Trail. Reach him thru his group.
And we lucked out - it was the last day that boats were going to be out for the season...
The Driftwood Music/Folk Cafe had Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams for a really wonderful night of music. You can listen to them here, and catch them when they come round this way again! The Driftwood will offer up another great musical evening on 11.19.11.
If you haven't been, just go~support these local projects when you can so we can keep enjoying them for years to come.
